McGurk Racing and Engineering
Phil's approach to racing has always been closely linked to engineering. Rather than simply accepting the manufacturer's original specifications, he looks for ways to improve the performance and reliability of each machine.
Many of the parts used on his racing motorcycles are modified, developed or manufactured specifically for the demands of road racing.
The Isle of Man Mountain Course places enormous demands on both rider and machine.
High speeds, long laps and constantly changing conditions mean that every component has to perform reliably. Phil's engineering is focused on creating motorcycles capable of delivering performance while enduring those demands.
In 2026 Phil decided to build a sister bike to Goldie, creating new, hand-made parts throughout the machine.
For her first outing she achieved a 101.5mph lap in the Senior race before failing to finish due to a bolt coming off.
The bike will return to the Isle of Man with further development already in mind.
The next challenge is to take the development of the BSA engineering even further.
Phil currently holds a Mountain Course lap speed of 101.961 mph and a race average of over 100mph.
The target is simple: 105mph.
Sounds easy. Nope. It's not.
